Oregon head coach Dana Altman has been on a blazing hot recruiting streak. Not only did he land two very good prospects in Jordan Bell and A.J. Lapray. He has now landed his first International recruit. On Tuesday the Ducks picked up commitment from Brazilian Cristiano Felicio.
Felicio is a 6-foot-9, 240 pound forward out of Pouso Alegre, Mingas Gerais, Brazil. As you can see from his size, Altman continues to put an emphasis on recruiting bigger players. Gone are the days of Tajuan Porter and the 5-foot-6 guards of Oregon.
In his most recent action, Felicio averaged 9.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for Brazil’s U-19 team at the FIBA tournament in 2011. Felicio has since left Brazil to attend CCSE Prep Academy in Sacramento and bolster his national recognition. He is also a candidate for the Brazilian National basketball team for the 2016 Olympics.
Landing this recruit is very significant for Altman and the Ducks. Not only does it add size, but it proves that Oregon can recruit not just nationally, but internationally.
Check out Oregon tonight against their first ranked opponent #18 UNLV on CBS Sports Network at 6pm PST.
