Bryan Bennett is at Wide Receiver?

We have been getting reports over the last month of practices that reserve QB Bryan Bennett has NOT worn the usual Red QB jersey which protects the player from hits during play reps.  He has been wearing the same white jersey as other offensive players–hmmm.  It was reported by the Register-Guard that Bennett actually practiced with the Receivers yesterday, (Sunday) and considering how close we are to the bowl?  This is interesting news along with the timing!

As I read this I recalled the words of the “Grizzled Ole’ Coach”, (Mike Morris who has advised in our analysis reports for over a year) when he told me some time back that Bryan Bennett would be an excellent Wide-Out for the Ducks.  Now, I had a hard time wrapping my mind around that, but he explained that, “Bryan has excellent separation speed, the acceleration that we see when he bursts for the sideline on a Zone-Read.  He would do well as a WR coming off the LOS, and creating space from the defender.”

We know Chip likes to throw something new at an opponent…but this is a curious development considering the depth we have at WR.  Is this a Red Herring or a new Chip Kelly Game Plan forming?

  • Maybe he’ll turn out to be as good a receiver as Chris Harper!
