On Saturday, Oregon basketball took a big step forward by winning on the road at UCLA. The now-ranked #16 Ducks controlled the tempo and dispelled all doubts about this team’s psyche. They showed the ability to beat a quality opponent on the road. Coach Dana Altman has this team playing tough on both ends of the floor and it is paying off. The Ducks stand alone on top of the Pac-12 conference in front of the likes of Arizona, whom they have already beaten this year. The 5-0 mark in conference play is the first time we have reached this milestone in 39 years.
Dana Altman has a very poised and deep team with five starters averaging double figures in points. However, this team makes its mark on hitting the glass and being a defensive squad. Oregon is ranked 6th in rebounding margin nationally along with being in the top 30 in steals per game. These are impressive numbers and reflect well on how this team responds to Altman. Next up, we have 2 home games against Washington and Washington State. Both of these teams are dangerous. Now that the target is on the Duck’s back, let’s see how they can respond.
