It appears as though sophomore linebacker Anthony Wallace will be transferring from Oregon. Wallace ended the year with 5 total tackles and 1 pass deflection. One can only guess as to why certain players choose to transfer; some don’t like how much playing time they are receiving, while others prefer to move closer to home. I imagine it can be a little of both for some players.
This is slightly strange to me as Oregon is losing both Michael Clay and Kiko Alonso to graduation, opening the doors for players such as Wallace to step up into a starting role. This also comes at a bad time for Oregon considering how they are losing two of their best tacklers with these departing linebackers. The Ducks have signed only one true linebacker in this year’s class, and some athletes could potentially line up in that spot. Expect Oregon to make a recruiting push to land at least one if not two more linebackers before national signing day.
Anthony Wallace will have three years to complete his two seasons of eligibility.
