The Oregon Ducks had to battle all game to get the win over the Arizona State Sun Devils, and they prevailed 68-65. Once again the Ducks needed contributions from the entire team as Carrick Felix hit a 3-pointer with 2:08 left to put the Sun Devils up 60-59. Tony Woods answered back with a go ahead dunk to put Oregon up for good.
Oregon was led in scoring by Tony Woods, Damyean Dotson, and Carlos Emory with 14 points a piece. Dominic Artis added another 10 points while playing outstanding defense. The Ducks were not able to shut down Freshman Jahii Carson, who finished the game with 20 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds. Evan Gordon put up another 17 points for the Sun Devils.
As they had against the Wildcats, the Ducks shot very accurately from behind the arc, going 6-11 for 54.5%. However, it was the accuracy on the free throw line that made the difference in this contest, and led to the Oregon victory. The Ducks shot 14-15 from the charity stripe compared to Arizona State’s 5-9, with Oregon’s only miss coming in the last 13 seconds of play.
Oregon is now 14-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Look for a nod from the voters to push the Ducks into the polls this week. Next up, Oregon takes on USC in Galen Center, on January 17th, at 8pm PST.
