The Ducks picked up a big and somewhat surprising recruit in 4 star defensive end Torrodney Prevot yesterday.  Out of Houston, Texas, Prevot de-committed from USC hours before signing day.   Prevot had committed to USC over this past summer, but apparently had a last minute change of heart as he eventually chose to bring to talents to Eugene.

Torrodney Prevot has the chance to make an immediate impact playing defense for the Ducks

This is a big win for the Ducks, who will lose Dion Jordan after four tremendous years and will need to re-load at the defensive end position.  This is a giant leap in the right direction as Prevot will come in to Aliotti’s defense playing a similar role to Jordan.  Coach Helfrich was recently quoted by Rob Moseley stating “coaches see Torrodney Prevot playing a similar role to that of Dion Jordan.”

Prevot is very similar to Jordan in that he can play a stand up defensive end and cover the slot if needed.  Scouts describe Prevot as someone with a lot of speed and athleticism who is versatile enough to play both defensive end and linebacker.  This multifaceted athlete has the capability to also to play the classic defensive end position with a hand on the ground coming off the edge as this is the position he played in high school.

Not only did the Ducks land a great player in Prevot, which will make Dion Jordan’s loss much more bearable and hopefully unnoticed, but they also stole a top recruit from the hated Trojans, making this signing that much sweeter.
