Football: One Upward Step at a Time

Oregon’s football program has been climbing to the top for several years. When Dennis Dixon almost took the Ducks to the big show, everyone thought that was the big year. Then Jeremiah Masoli surprised everyone with his quickness and ability to make plays.  When he left, Darren Thomas stepped up in a big way, beating out the thought-to-be starting quarterback and taking the Ducks to the Rose Bowl.

Everyone  was worried when Thomas decided to leave for the NFL, and then this new superstar steps up and takes the Ducks to yet another big time bowl game. Of course, I’m talking about Marcus Mariota.

Oregon has seen several top rated quarterbacks in the past handful of years.  As soon as we fans start to worry and wonder how the ducks could ever replace the good quarterback we have, a new one comes in and raises the bar!!  The upward trend in overall player talent shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.  Whoever replaces Mariota – when the time comes – will have some big shoes to fill, but who knows?  Our recruits are getting stronger, and the entire program is a force to be reckoned with!
