Key Ducks to watch in Super Bowl

Super Bowl XLVII will feature former Ducks who play integral parts in their teams’ success.  Here’s a look at one player from each team who could make an impact on the ultimate outcome of the game.

LaMichael James will look to burn the Ravens’ defense as he did so many defenses in his college career.

San Francisco 49ers’ LaMichael James is all too well known in the City of Eugene for his electrifying speed and elusiveness.  James did not touch the field until week 14, after an injury to running back Kendall Hunter.  LaMichael was used sparingly, averaging a little under 7 carries a game.  However, James has been a blessing on special teams and has done a tremendous job as a returner.  He helped the Forty-Niners set up the game winning touchdown with a fantastic runback, placing the opening of the drive in New England territory.  Look for James to have a big play in the game either on special teams or to break one out off a run or short pass.

On the other side of the ball, Baltimore Ravens’ defensive tackle Haloti Ngata will be trying to slow down LaMichael James and the San Francisco offense.   A big key for the Ravens’ line is to limit San Francisco’s running game and contain the rampant running of quarterback Colin Kaepernick.  Ngata will be one of the main guys relied on to be physical and control the line.  Look for Ngata to make a big play on defense, whether it is a sack, a big tackle or even an interception. This savvy vet is now in his 7th year in the NFL.  He should be ready for the biggest game of his career.

The Ducks will be well represented in Super Bowl XLVII, and it wouldn’t surprise me if one of them is involved in a game changing play or game winning run.

My final score prediction: 49ers 28 Ravens 18
