The Oregon Ducks take on the California Golden Bears tonight in Matthew Knight Arena. This marks the 137th meeting between the teams with Cal holding the edge 81-55. The Ducks looks for redemption as they have lost the last 10 meetings to Cal, including a 58-54 loss earlier this month.
Oregon sits atop the conference and needs this win to solidify its place and have a good chance to win the conference outright. The Ducks will have a big test against league leading scorer Allen Crabbe, who averages 19.8 points per game, and Justin Cobbs, who averages 14.8 points per game.
Cal does a good job of controlling the pace of the game and forcing teams into low scoring affairs. If Oregon can push the pace and push the scoring they should have a solid chance of winning. This task will fall to Johnathan Loyd, who sometimes moves so fast on the court he seems out of control. Oregon will need that spark and his pace to win.
The Golden Bears are also a decent rebounding team, so Oregon will need a big game from Arsalan Kazemi, who tends to dominate the tangibles of the game.
Quick note: Senior E.J. Singler is now the leading scorer for the Ducks at 11.8 points per game. With the win against Washington State he became the all time winningest player in Oregon history.
To watch the game, tune in to ESPN2/ESPNU at 6pm PST.
