The Oregon Ducks take on the California Golden Bears this afternoon in Haas Pavilion. After suffering their first loss in Pac-12 play against Stanford, Oregon needs to finish this road trip off strong.
Once again it appears that the Ducks will be without freshman Dominic Artis for the 3rd straight game. The games are played so closely together in conference play, if you get injured you likely will miss multiple games. Oregon will need Jonathon Lloyd to step up this afternoon if they want to leave Haas Pavilion with a win.
Much like Stanford, Cal is a good rebounding team. Oregon will need to control the boards, and will need to shoot much better from the field. Oregon still remains high, being ranked 58th in the nation at 45.9% from the field compared to Cal’s 118th ranking at 44.5% from the field.
Two players come to mind that Oregon will need to shut down if they hope to win. Allen Crabbe is averaging 19.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game with Justin Cobbs adding another 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. If the Ducks can control these two players, limit second chance points off of rebounds, and win the turnover battle they should leave California with another win. Oregon will likely drop in the rankings on Monday after losing to Stanford.
