Pac-12 is Ducks’ for the Taking

After 16 regular season conference games, the Ducks sit atop the Pac-12 standings tied with UCLA.  At 12-4 in conference play and a 23-6 record overall, the  Ducks own the tie-breaker by virtue of a previous win over the Westwood Bruins.  With yet another second half comeback against our bitter rivals from Corvallis, combined with an Arizona loss (this time at USC the night before), we once again control our own destiny.   The only team standing in the way of that is Colorado and they have an up and down game.  We still have to play at Utah, but everyone is looking to see if we can get past Colorado on Thursday.  If we do, we should be heading into Las Vegas with a bye and ranked as the #1 seed for as wide open of a conference tournament as I can remember.

Let’s not forget that Arizona and UCLA have their own big matchup Saturday night.  USC did us a big favor by beating Arizona on Wednesday night.  Let’s hope ‘Zona can bounce back, beat UCLA, and give us sole possession of first heading into the final weekend of conference play.

If we can get past Colorado Thursday night we are pretty much a lock to be the #1 seed in the conference tournament.  It should be more than enough to get us into the NCAA tournament field regardless of our performance in the conference tournament.  The Pac-12 is ours for the taking and if we can close out strong we will win the regular season conference crown for the first time in more than a decade.  Keep on keeping on, you Ducks!
