Holy moly is that my boy Masoli?!

Entering the 2009-2010 seasons of Ducks football there were many unanswered questions with new coach Chip Kelly as well as new starting quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.  The first PAC-10 game was slated at home against Cal, who was then number six in the country.  Masoli and the offense bulled them over winning 42-3 in what surprised many analysts and fans.  From that point on the Ducks, led by Masoli, rose to a new level, defeating number 4 USC on Halloween.  Masoli almost single handedly beat Arizona in a double overtime thriller and then against arch-rival Oregon State, clinched a trip to the Rose Bowl in the final game of the season, putting the cherry on top.

Masoli was a pioneer in catalyzing a new culture with Ducks football

So what is Jeremiah Masoli up to now?  After finishing his college eligibility Masoli was signed as a free agent with his hometown team, the San Francisco 49ers in 2011, but was quickly waived months later.  Three days after being released, he signed a contract with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.  In 2012, he then ventured to the Canadian Football league, signing with the Edmonton Eskimos.  He was recently traded in February to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he has yet to take a snap.

Even though Masoli did not pan out as the quarterback that Ducks hoped to have, he was the quarterback to begin a new football era at the University of Oregon where success is now expected.  He wowed us with his athletic ability to scramble out of the pocket and make precision passes.  He helped put Oregon on the map as a football school which in turn brought high caliber recruits.  If it were not for Masoli the University of Oregon football program might not be where it is today, and even though he did make mistakes, I want to thank him and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
