Coach Dana Altman has done it again. With new junior college basketball player Richard Amardi committing to the U of O on June 18th, the team adds yet another transfer.
Previously committed to Iowa State for next season, the 6-foot-9 power forward is the fourth transfer to join the Ducks for the upcoming season. He has one year of eligibility left and hopes to give the team some much needed depth in the front court.
Amardi’s skill set should fit right into the team’s style of play. His ability to finish in the paint and knock down mid-range jump shots can give the Ducks roster more flexibility and options.
With the array of front court players that have been added to the team via recruitment and transfers, it is unsure how the minutes will be divvied up at the moment. However, this is not a bad thing. The players know that they have an opportunity to prove to the coaches that they deserve playing time. This creates a very competitive environment and the Ducks’ performance will benefit.
