As if Oregon’s secondary wasn’t already loaded, the Ducks’ signing of four star recruit, Arrion Springs, gives Oregon’s dominance on the outer edges staying power. The cornerback out of San Antonio announced his decision to take his talents to Eugene at the prestigious football camp,”The Opening,” in Beaverton.
Springs ranks 44th in the ESPN150 Recruiting Index and is the 7th rated corner. He also rated well in athletic testing at The Opening. He ran the 40 yard dash in 4.44 seconds and the shuttle in 4.13 seconds.
The addition of Springs bolsters the 2014 recruiting class which also includes one other four star recruit in Jordan Hoiem.
If his highlight tape is any indication, Springs seems like an extremely aggressive, do it all corner. The tape shows Springs’ complete game with highlights of him snatching a potential touchdown pass from a receiver, blocking a field goal, stuffing a running back in the backfield and making a touchdown saving tackle.
The addition of Springs could prove to be a safety net for the Ducks’ secondary if Efo Ekpre-Olomu and/or Terrance Mitchell decide to go pro after next season.
