NFL Ducks: Free Kiko!!

Ducks have been flexing their muscles at the next level

Kevin Cline

After just the second week of the 2013 NFL season, there has already been some separation among teams and players in terms of wins and production.  An interesting development, and something for Duck fans to keep an eye on, is happening in Buffalo.

The long-suffering franchise seemingly did very well on draft day, and now has two superior rookies leading a resurgence.  QB EJ Manuel has probably had the most impressive quarterback debut so far (9th in passer rating, highest among rookie QBs) and last week against Carolina, he led the 1-1 Bills on an impressive, game-winning 80-yard touchdown drive . . . with no timeouts.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kiko Alonso (No. 50) has been all over the field.  The 6’3″, 238-lb linebacker is currently tied for 9th in the NFL in tackles and is filling up the stat sheet elsewhere.  Through two games, Kiko has amassed 19 tackles, 1 sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception, and another pass breakup.  It’s safe to say the young man is holding his own so far, and with ex-Duck Jairus Byrd also in Buffalo, the Bills defense will be one to keep an eye on.

Let’s look at how former Ducks fared in Week 2:
