Ducks Pick up Commitment from 3-Star Lineman

Offensive lineman are used to getting little notoriety. It comes with the territory. Yesterday, the Ducks picked up a verbal commitment from 3-star offensive lineman Jacob Capra adding him to the long list of under-the-radar recruits who have developed into elite line talent for the Ducks.

Capra, 6’5″, 265 pounds, committed Oregon on Thursday, after receiving offers from Washington, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, California, UCLA and Utah, among others. He made his decision public on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

Capra chose the Ducks despite his brother Johnny signing with Utah as part of the 2015 class.

The Ducks have a history of identifying and developing offensive lineman who are normally not recruited nationally like many of their skill players. Here are a few examples of somewhat unheralded lineman recruits who have contributed mightily for the Ducks:

2007: Mark Asper: 2-star lineman from Idaho Falls, ID

2008: Hamani Stevens: 3-star center from Hemet, CA and Nick Cody: 3-star tackle from Brush Prairie, WA

2009: Everett Benyard: 3-star lineman from San Diego, CA

2010: Hroniss Grasu: 3-star center from Encino, CA

2011: Tyler Johnstone: 4-star lineman from Chandler, AZ

Credit should go to the Oregon coaching staff and especially long-time offensive line coach, Steve Greatwood for not only identifying talent but also developing that talent into a unit that produces one of the top offenses in all of college football year in and year out. Oregon fans should be very excited to land this student athlete with a 3.75 GPA and a mean streak you can watch for yourself in the video below.

New 2024 FishDuck Publishing Schedule….

During the off-season the FishDuck.com publishing schedule will consist of articles on Mondays and Tuesdays. Do keep checking as new articles could be published during the week when a writer has something to say.

In mid-August of 2024, we will go back to the seven-days-a-week of articles during the football season as we did in the football season of 2023.

The Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBD) is where we we discuss the article above and many more topics, as it is so much easier in a message board format over there.  At the free OBD forum we will be posting Oregon Sports article links, the daily Press Releases from the Athletic Department and the news coming out every day.

Our 33 rules at the free OBD Forum can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) do not tell anyone what to think, feel or write, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics. Easy-peasy!

OBD Forum members….we got your back.  No Trolls Allowed!
