Monster Mondays! I mean business as this is a can’t miss day for all serious Oregon fans. You have two of the best damn Op-Ed writers out there in Nathan Roholt and Mike Merrell. Nathan has been charming and yet needling us for a couple of years now about a fresh approach to his assignments, and I can’t wait to see what subjects he is willing to tackle, in a very high quality style of writing. Mike is an editor for us and — after writing three novels – cannot keep himself from the keyboard – he is heavy on the entertainment side, and I cannot help but chuckle at his conclusions. The guy has way too much fun writing!
Analysis Tuesdays! This day is what the site was founded upon as Mr. FishDuck himself (Charles Fischer) puts together analyses of our beloved Ducks and has guest coaches who counsel him. Since we are beginning the fourth year of Oregon football analysis? He has assembled a FishDuck.com GameDay Coaching Consulting Team to help our audience — both fans and coaches – learn more about the Oregon system. Steven Holstad and Evan Gilges are going to save you a ton of time every Tuesday as they do a “Football Playoff & Conference Update“ article for us.
You will not have to go to a ton of sites or watch all the games on TV, as these guys will tell you who to watch in which conference, where we are in conference standings, the games to keep an eye on this weekend and they will do it for all major sports. How refreshing it is to have this concise update every Tuesday, and did I mention how much time it will save you? You’ll learn a ton each week from these fine young writers, and I am very pleased to offer this unique feature of the site.
Recruiting Guru & the “King” of titles, Mark Flores
Wednesdays are WOW! Is there a better free Oregon Recruiting Update on the Web? Mark Flores makes us laugh with his titles, but locks us in with his succinct rundown of commitments, and Duck scholarship offers going out across the United States in football and men’s basketball. You get videos, quotes and it is every week on Wednesdays from this long-time FishDuck.com writer. He is the best at giving us truly juicy stuff in the recruiting realm of Oregon sports! The second article each Wednesday is a rotation of four writers who give us expertise in their given area.
Joey Holland has been a superb Oregon History writer since he began with us during his time at Oregon as a student. He was the first history writer to make the subject fun and fascinating, and we are pleased he is still teaching us. Caleb Couturie is taking us into the new world of College Football/Basketball Fantasy leagues, and giving us his feedback on how to construct a team each week. Ashley Young has been kicking it with entertaining interviews of current players that help you learn more about our present beloved Ducks and ponder their futures at Oregon. Joe Kearns has already established himself as quite the Eagle/Duck analyst and you will learn from his discussion of the crossovers occurring between the two teams. Truly, he cheers for both “Birds.”
THUNDEROUS Thursdays! You will not believe what we have going on Thursdays this football season as we have never had this lineup before! We have moved our Opponent Analysis to Thursdays to give you some time to learn about our opponent before Saturday. (For weeks we play on Thursday or Friday — look two days before the game!) There is no opponent overview like those at FishDuck.com as Rory Davidson will not only show what to look for on Saturdays from our opponent, but he’ll teach you a little football in the process. Nobody in the media anywhere does this, and nobody beats FishDuck.com for spot-on game analyses.
How can you NOT love Kim!
So … while we are being respectful of our opponent in Rory’s analysis — we will have moved our humor article of the week to Thursdays so that Kim Hastings can lampoon the opposing team in a way that only he can do – as he as done for almost the entire history of the site. Yep … Rory honors the opponent, and Kim savages the opponent in a tongue-and-cheek style that provides a timely hoot.
So visiting fans from our opponent will feel good … and then indignant, by the time these two are done. If you have not checked out Kim in the past … you are missing one of my treats in life as other editors and I on the site buzz about who got jabbed by Kim’s pen this week. Way too much fun!
A jewel of the site is an article every other Thursday by Jason Fowler about Recruiting Strategy as he breaks down the big picture of recruiting, our targets and the changing landscape of Oregon football recruiting. This is an especially juicy subject as Oregon has really stepped up in this area with half our recruiting done by Sept. 1st, and the potential of our best year yet! His articles are must-read if you want the inside scoop on recruiting as this writer really does his homework.

Duckling Profiles are monthly articles by Laura Brehm that remind you how special the incoming or redshirting players are as individuals and football specialists. Her coverage makes us all feel great about the great young athletes who choose to become “Men of Oregon.”
Riley Bushnell is covering cross country and football this fall and you’ll see his articles every two weeks. He’ll start with a season preview of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, and then give us an update going into regionals. In between? He is all football and his insights will make you ponder in the tradition of this site for the “Next Level” fans that visit.
Famous Fridays! I’m serious. These writers are famous in FishDuck.com lore as Pat Pannu gives us some of the most amazing history and list articles about Oregon on the web. A writer who enthralls thousands is our Mark Saltveit, who began his Chip Kelly Updates last summer and the corresponding readership has really grown – for him and the site. He has written two books about Kelly and every week saves us a ton of time giving us the Philadelphia Eagle/Chip Kelly update so that we don’t have to go to all the “Bird” sites to stay up on Football’s Most Interesting Man. CK is hot right now, and especially with all the Oregon players on board? We have a huge connection across the US due to Mark and his professional and highly entertaining articles on every Friday. Both teams are running similar things on offense, and now on defense! This is the only NFL team for the Oregon fan and nobody covers it better than Mark.
Studious Saturdays! Look … I know it is GAMEDAY, but you can’t spend the whole day watching Oregon … yet you can keep learning about our beloved Ducks! We have four writers in Will Denner, Alex Kirby, Rob Liggins, and Alex Towne who have been linked by ESPN Pac-12 Blog, Track & Field News, and had their articles nearly go viral with all the comments from fans. Whether it is the football analysis of Kirby, or the Op-Eds of Denner … you will learn more about Oregon from these serious and focused writers. I can’t believe all the amusing things he digs up about other coaches, players, and bizarre things occurring in college football. Oregon Basketball Analyst Lawrence Hastings
Oregon Basketball! We will have coverage every week beginning the first week of November by experienced basketball writers and analysts Lawrence Hastings, and Dean Davis. Both of these men have played, studied and written about the game extensively for FishDuck.com in the past and will bring their expertise to the readers of this site each week. In mid-January you’ll see Lawrence shift to Basketball Analysis as he did last year and our learning of Dana Altman’s Pinwheel Offense will surely climb from his discussion of it.
Dean will power through bi-weekly with an update of the team, the upcoming opponents and nuggets to know as he did with so many superb basketball articles in the past. Great learning and great fun reading what these young men offer us all concerning our roundball Ducks!
