Swirling rumors will finally be put to rest as the nation’s top dual-threat quarterback, Kyler Murray (4-Star/Allen, TX/Rivals100), will announce his program decision later today. The southwest phenom accounted for 57 touchdowns during his junior season and will attempt to lead his team to their third-straight state title this coming year. While only 5-foot-11, 175 lbs., Murray’s Mariota-esque accuracy (67% in 2013) and ability to run by design or necessity sets him atop the Oregon big board. Murray’s commitment would be one of — if not the top — cross-region gets for any program nationally, as Oregon’s influence in the Texas prep ranks would be solidified for years to come.
Murray made a quiet trip to Oregon earlier this year and came away “feeling at home” amongst Mark Helfrich’s fast-paced mentality. Following this year, Oregon’s quarterback situation is very much an unknown and makes Murray’s decision all the more important. Barring an injury or incoming freshman Morgan Mahalak’s rapid maturation, Murray would enter Oregon’s system as QB1. Check back with FISHDUCK for an update later today!
“Arrion has really been recruiting me to Oregon since before the offer,” said Campbell. “He tells me all of the great things about it and the coaches and how he wants me to come play with him.”
While only 5-foot-9, 171 lbs., Campbell sticks to opposing wide receivers like gum in your hair and makes a habit of being extremely physical in coverage.
“They tell me I’m scrappy. I play a lot of man and I’m not the biggest guy. They tell me I’m very disciplined and I play physical.”
In where he stands with Oregon, Campbell doesn’t mince words.
“Everyone loves the jerseys and stuff and I loved it at first too. But I met Coach Neal and I really liked him. I’m hoping I get invited to The Opening. If I do, I will visit Oregon if it works out. I know Oregon will be one of my official visits later this fall.”
