News

While still a year away, quarterback Seth Green (4-Star/Woodbury, MN/Rivals250) is already Oregon’s prime target heading into the 2016 recruiting cycle. Green’s rapport with the Ducks, most specifically offensive coordinator Scott Frost, ramped-up significantly at the end of July when an offer came down the pipe.

(Oregon) told me I’m the first quarterback they have offered in my class,” said Green. “That feels pretty amazing to have them think so highly of me.”

This past weekend, Green took his second unofficial visit to Eugene and may have taken his first step to becoming a Duck.

“My visit out to Oregon was like a work-out/small camp setting when I was out there … I honestly don’t think the visit out there could have gone any better. I loved the facilities. What I really liked most about it, is their academics facility is at the same caliber as the athletic facilities. I also loved how well they use their facilities to get the most out of their players.”

In late July, Green named Oregon the favorite to ink his 6-foot-3, 210 lb. dual-threat prowess and will visit the Ducks when Michigan State comes to town Sept. 6th.

Already a lock to don Lightning Yellow & Thunder Green, quarterback Travis Waller (4-Star/Anaheim, CA/Rivals250) is getting in the ears of fellow preps.

I’m working pretty hard on Kirk Merritt, Ryan Newsome, Malik Lovette, and Russell Ude right now,” Waller said. “I talk to Merritt almost every day and I think Oregon has a great shot.”

Merritt (4-Star/Destrehan, LA), already a household name in the southeast, burst onto the national scene when he took top honors in the SPARQ National Championship at Nike’s The Opening. Long connected with Oregon’s style of offense, Merritt would be an ideal TAZR for head coach Mark Helfrich & Co.

With a pair of potential receivers in Newsome (3-Star/Aledo, TX) and Lovette (4-Star/Redlands, CA/Rivals250), Waller’s insistence may provide him with some of the best edge talent in the nation.

“Oregon is my top school right now,” said Lovette. “We run a similar offense now and I love how Oregon would use me. They compared me to Josh Huff and said I could get carries out of the backfield and in the slot.”

Ude (4-Star/Atlanta, GA/Rivals100) has been in the Ducks’ wheelhouse for most of the 2014 cycle and will continue to dominate the top of Oregon’s big board heading into the regular season. It’s simply a matter of fit with Ude, a defensive end, and a cross country commitment may not be far off, stay tuned!

New 2024 FishDuck Publishing Schedule….

During the off-season the FishDuck.com publishing schedule will consist of articles on Mondays and Tuesdays. Do keep checking as new articles could be published during the week when a writer has something to say.

In mid-August of 2024, we will go back to the seven-days-a-week of articles during the football season as we did in the football season of 2023.

The Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBD) is where we we discuss the article above and many more topics, as it is so much easier in a message board format over there.  At the free OBD forum we will be posting Oregon Sports article links, the daily Press Releases from the Athletic Department and the news coming out every day.

Our 33 rules at the free OBD Forum can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) do not tell anyone what to think, feel or write, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics. Easy-peasy!

OBD Forum members….we got your back.  No Trolls Allowed!
