Before I begin … I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Big Fish himself, Charles Fischer. Without going into much detail, there are big changes coming to FishDuck.com. Almost four years ago, I approached Charles about writing about my beloved Ducks.
He had a recruiting slot open, gave me a shot, and through some fine tinkering, “Recruiting Update Wednesdays” have become a staple among Oregon fans. Charles is the reason this site has flourished and I encourage all Duck fans to reach and out and thank the Big Fish for his time and passion!
Now to business. I hate all of Oregon’s opponents, but there’s a special place of disdain for USC. What a game to bring some of our biggest recruiting targets in to experience Autzen.
Drop-end Connor Murphy (4-Star/Phoenix/Rivals250) was one of Don Pellum’s earliest targets entering the 2016 recruiting cycle. That interest appears to have paid off as Murphy came away awestruck by Oregon’s drubbing of USC.
“It was a crazy experience at Oregon this weekend,” said Murphy. “Now that I’m done with the trip I’m really glad I came for the game day atmosphere and to get that experience. It was like I was part of the team. I hit it off with a ton of the guys and really felt at home. They took me under their wing and showed me a great time at Oregon.”
Murphy’s 6-foot-7, 255-pound frame screams heir-apparent in Oregon’s line of vaunted drop-ends and could etch him an early role should he come to Eugene.
“It was just crazy in there. The student section and the stadium was intense. When I walked out before the game the students were chanting my name. It gave me some serious chills. I can only imagine what it would feel like if I was actually playing and heard that. Oregon has always been up there for me, but this visit really uplifted them for sure.”
Sounds like a Quacker to me, WTD!!!
