Commitments

Amid swirling rumors, heavily-touted point guard JaQuan Lyle (5-Star/Huntington, WV/Rivals150) made his college decision public last Wednesday naming Oregon as his future destination.  One of the last nationally-ranked five stars to commit, Lyle left no doubt at the press conference mic.

“Next year, I’m going to attend the University of Oregon …”

Lyle, standing 6-foot-5 and tipping the scales at 215 lbs., is an NBA-ready shooter with a versatility streak to boot.  With the departures of seniors Johnathan Loyd and Jason Calliste, Lyle’s entry into the Ducks rotation gains even more importance.  Look for Lyle to make an immediate impact and give the returning Dominic Artis a tough battle for significant playing time.

News

Last Thursday, long time Oregon target Russell Ude (4-Star/Atlanta, GA/Rivals100) got the scholarship nod he’s been waiting for when Head Coach Mark Helfrich gathered the troops for a conference call.

(Helfrich) had the entire staff on the phone and they let me know that Oregon is officially offering me a scholarship to play at Oregon,” said Ude. “… I’m very excited.”

Compared to the likes of Dion Jordan, Ude is very much a student of the past Oregon great.

“I am very familiar with Dion and how he played at Oregon.  I watched every highlight of his I could find when he came out last year for the NFL draft.  I’ve seen everything out there on him.

“I think it fits (being at Oregon) … they’ll be up there on my list for sure,” added Ude.

At 6-foot-3, 251 lbs., Ude’s quick burst and undeniable strength see him at drop-end when he enters his collegiate years, stay tuned!

New 2024 FishDuck Publishing Schedule….

During the off-season the FishDuck.com publishing schedule will consist of articles on Mondays and Tuesdays. Do keep checking as new articles could be published during the week when a writer has something to say.

In mid-August of 2024, we will go back to the seven-days-a-week of articles during the football season as we did in the football season of 2023.

The Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBD) is where we we discuss the article above and many more topics, as it is so much easier in a message board format over there.  At the free OBD forum we will be posting Oregon Sports article links, the daily Press Releases from the Athletic Department and the news coming out every day.

Our 33 rules at the free OBD Forum can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) do not tell anyone what to think, feel or write, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics. Easy-peasy!

OBD Forum members….we got your back.  No Trolls Allowed!
