This week Kurt is joined by Oregon Ducks kicker Matt Evensen, who was Oregon’s placekicker and kickoff specialist from 2005 through 2008 and now kicks for the Berlin Rebels of the German Football League. Matt and Kurt discussed some of Matt’s favorite games, techniques and the pressure involved with being a kicker, making tackles as a kicker, and other memories of his time as a Duck.

A friend’s son was playing a JV game against Franklin at Franklin, and since I lived close to the school, I came to see her son play. What caught my eye was this kid on Franklin’s team booming kickoffs into the end zone and nailing 40+ yd field goals. Saw then how special Matt was and was glad he bacame a Duck.

Kurt – Good interview- enjoyed your laid back conversation with Matt Evensen.
When asked about a favorite moment or game he mentioned Oregon defeating Michigan ( 39-7) in 2007. The play of Dennis Dixon and Jeremiah Johnson plus the atmosphere surrounding the game impressed him. What Matt might not have realized was that with his first field goal of the game he became the first Duck ever to record points against Michigan in the “Big House”. Oregon’s previous 3 visits resulted in losses and 0 points scored.
