Football Recruiting
News
Following a tremendous pickup in that of running back Royce Freeman (5-Star/Imperial, Calif./Rivals250), the Oregon snowball continues to build as several top-rated prospects indicated heavy interest in the Ducks.
Coming off a spectacular performance at Nike’s The Opening held earlier this month, venerable wide receiver Speedy Noil (4-Star/New Orleans, LA/Rivals100) named Oregon to his top five program choices. A tabbed athlete in the mold of current Ducks do-it-all back De’Anthony Thomas, the 6-foot, 161-pound Noil blazes by defenders with 4.4 speed and figures to be a slot receiver at the collegiate level. Already commanding an Oregon offer, wide receivers coach Matt Lubick will no doubt pull out all the stops in attempting to land one of the top preps of 2014.
Visits
Long been on the radar in Eugene, offensive tackle Layth Friekh (3-Star/Peoria, Ariz.) confirmed an official visit to Autzen Stadium this coming Sept. 14. At 6-5, 265 pounds, Friekh could be surmised as a raw talent that has tremendous upside if placed under the direction of offensive line coach Steve Greatwood. Having no other official visits set in stone, an eye-opening trip could put the Ducks in command of Friekh’s recruitment, stay tuned!
