Commitments
Head Coach Dana Altman landed his first commitment of the 2014 campaign in up-and-coming point guard Casey Benson (3-Star/Tempe, Ariz./Rivals150). The newest Duck took a slightly under the radar approach to his recruitment and made his first trip to Eugene in early fall of last year.
After an eye opening weekend among the team and coaches, the 6-foot-3 Benson took his thoughts back to Tempe and later that winter, propelled his prep team to a second straight state title where he garnered the coveted Gatorade Player of the Year honor in the process.
A tremendous slasher in the paint, Benson compliments his aggressive game with a smooth stroke and facilitates his prep offense.
“Once I got stronger and quicker (my junior season), I really got to the point where I could create way more and get into the lane and make plays for myself and for others,” said Benson. “I can keep a defense honest by getting around them as well as shooting the three.” – via “Basketball is My Life” Web Series
Look for Benson to have an early impact in an Altman offense predicated on creating opportunities, stay tuned!
