Big-Ten Betting: A Closer Look at Oregon Odds in the B1G

Having picked up three wins from their first three games, albeit their opening two victories not being the most comprehensive, the Oregon Ducks are well placed when it comes to the betting odds for the Big Ten Conference.

Dan Lanning’s team held off Idaho and Boise State in the first two games of the season in a rather sedate fashion before playing closer to their full capabilities during their rival clash with Oregon State, beating the Beavers convincingly 49-14 at the Reser Stadium, before following that up with victories over UCLA and Michigan State.

When it comes to placing college football bets, or indeed when looking to select the best NFL betting sites, it is very important to make sure the relevant betting provider offers the best odds around; failing to do so may well lead to a less attractive payout.

The Oregon Ducks look very near to unstoppable, and Lanning was full of praise for his team following that big win over the Spartans, stating ahead of their clash with unbeaten Ohio State…

“We’re finally there.”

“We’re going to play them now.”

“It’s a great team. Obviously, they do a lot of good things,”

“There’s a reason they’re one of the best teams in the country, so it’s gonna be a great challenge for us.” Lanning added.

Ohio leads the all-time series 9-1, and that should give Lanning, and the Ducks pause for thought. This is Lanning’s third season in charge at Oregon, having finished the previous two at 10-3 and 12-2, and the 38-year-old head coach will be looking to continue his team’s great start to the campaign.

Lanning has been effusive in terms of his praise for quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is ranked seventh in terms of all-time passing yards in college football.

“I think he’s just really efficient.”

“He understands where we want to go with the ball, doesn’t take unnecessary risks, and he’s been able to win with his feet. I was impressed with that this past week. But he’s been really accurate, and he’s got some weapons that he can throw to and he’s taken advantage of it.” Lanning commented.

Gabriel came in to replace Bo Nix, the 12th overall pick at the 2024 NFL Draft, who was moving to the Denver Broncos. Those are pretty big shoes to fill, as Nix threw for 4508 yards last season, resulting in 45 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

With an 77.8% completion rate, Gabriel is doing a fine job and is sure to be picked early in the 2025 NFL Draft.

“The truth is we’ve had some growth moments.”

“We’ve had to readapt and change a little bit of who we are, but we’ve had really good quarterback play from Dillon and we think we have a team that understands what we’re trying to accomplish every time we step out on the field, and that’s allowed us to have some success.” Lanning stated in terms of what Gabriel offers his team.

The game is at Oregon’s home in Autzen stadium, but the Buckeyes have a powerful and experienced team. What do you put the odds at for the Ducks?

For the Exciting 2024 Football Season….

We will be publishing between four and six articles per week during the football season, as we skip Saturdays with all the distraction of GameDay for us. Check through the week, and in particular check for Analysis articles on most Fridays.

The Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBD) is where we we discuss the article above and many more topics, as it is so much easier in a message board format over there.  At the free OBD forum we will be posting Oregon Sports article links, the daily Press Releases from the Athletic Department and the news coming out every day.

Our 33 rules at the free OBD Forum can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) do not tell anyone what to think, feel or write, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics. Easy-peasy!

OBD Forum members….we got your back.  No Trolls Allowed!
