Originating in 1925, the East-West Shrine Game is an all-star invitational showcase featuring college football’s best players and an opportunity to increase awareness and support for the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children locations around the country.
Tony Washington was named the Defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl.
The nation’s top players are invited to participate in a week of festivities that include a visit to the Shriners Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
Players and coaches traditionally spend a day with the children at the hospital, listening to the children as they share their courageous and inspiring individual experiences.
The exhibition game also provides NFL draft prospects with national exposure to NFL scouts as a part of the pre-draft process.
The Shrine Game has seen former all-star Ducks such as TE David Paulson, WR Jeff Maehl, DT Brandon Bair, DB T.J. Ward, DL Ra’Shon Harris, and OL Geoff Schwartz.
The historical Shrine Game has received support from legendary coaches and players such as Don Shula, Paul “Bear” Bryant, Gale Sayers, Tom Brady, John Elway, and Walter Payton.
The 2015 East-West Shrine Game will be played, airing on the NFL Network at 4 p.m. EST.
