After the much heralded visit to the University of Oregon by FCS superstar quarterback Vernon Adams, everyone must now hurry up and wait.
Adams has a big decision to make: transfer to a top-tier FBS school that won the Rose Bowl and finished second overall last season, or finish his career in the FCS with the Eastern Washington Eagles, where he has made quite a name for himself.
Adams was more than impressed with his visit to Oregon.
“Oregon was so good,” Adams said. “The facilities were off the chain. It was everything I expected it to be and ten times more,” Adams told the press.
But after Adams’ visit with the Ducks, the website chat forums started exploding, with some suggesting the possibility that another Pac-12 school, such as UCLA, could invite Adams for a visit.
While mostly speculative, rumors have circulated that after losing quarterback Brett Hundley to the NFL Draft, UCLA could be looking for a dynamic dual-threat quarterback replacement.
UCLA head coach Jim Mora has developed a monster 2015 recruiting class, ranking in the top ten nationally. Mora has clearly demonstrated that he can entice and recruit top talent to Los Angeles.
For Oregon fans hoping Adams decides to be a Duck, there is good news and bad news.
The bad news is Adams is from Bishop Alemany High School in Los Angeles, CA. It’s easy to comprehend that should Adams visit UCLA, and that the dynamic quarterback could be swayed by a slick Mora & Co. to come home for his final year.
The good news is all this UCLA talk is rumor and speculation. Neither Adams nor EWU head coach Beau Baldwin have made a public statement regarding Adams visiting UCLA.
Apparently, Adams is still speechless from his visit to Oregon, indicating that he was very impressed with the facilities, coaches, players, and program as a whole.
Baldwin wants Adams to decompress from his visit and is looking forward to discussing the quarterback’s options to make the best possible decision.
“At the end of the day, when it comes to Vernon, I want, absolutely, I want what’s best for that young man. He’s done so much for our program,” Baldwin told the press.
Also, Mora has recruited five-star quarterback Josh Rosen, who has already enrolled. So, it appears as though UCLA may already have its signal caller in place.
Regardless of what Adams decides, the facts remain that Adams enjoyed his visit to Oregon and has a tough decision to make with his coaches and family in the following days concerning his final year of eligibility.
