Commitments
Christmas came early for Oregon in the form of two verbal commitments coming by way of ultra-athlete Danny Mattingly (3-Star/Spokane, WA/Rivals Top-15LB) and offensive line behemoth Jake Pisarcik (2-Star/Medford, NJ).
Danny Mattingly (3-Star/Spokane, WA/Rivals Top-15LB)
Mattingly, who wisely dropped an early season commitment to “over-Notre-rated” committed to head Coach Chip Kelly after a weekend visit to Eugene. A 6’5″, 225 lb. athlete that will remind some of current tight end Colt Lyerla, Mattingly has more than enough talent to line up early and often for Linebacker’s Coach Don Pellum. The significance of Mattingly’s commitment may not initially seen as Kelly & Co. make a habit of keeping players, especially tabbed athletes under wraps until key moments, a la Lyerla’s time in the backfield this season.
A relative unknown until his pledge broke the news, the 6’4″, 278 lb. Pisarcik stated “I spoke with coach Greatwood and he offered me. I was blown away and I told him I wanted to be a Duck.” Pisarcik spent his first three prep years as a tight end before moving to the line in 2012. “I grew a lot in the past year and I got taller and stronger. So my coaches really helped me out and moved me to lineman.”
Pisarcik is Oregon’s third offensive line commit heading into 2013 along with locals Evan Voeller (4-Star/West Linn, OR/Rivals250) and Doug Brenner (3-Star/Portland, OR).

Current “toothless yogi” commit, lineman Cameron Hunt (4-Star/Corona, CA), recently opened his commitment and will include Oregon in his final decision making process. “…(Oregon has) good coaches and I love the way they run the spread,” said Hunt. “It’s more a power running game. They don’t just throw the ball around… I think if you listen to (the coaches there) and do what they say, they’ll get you to the (NFL).” Coupled with his size (6’4”, 278 lbs.), Hunt’s athleticism in the trenches would make him a favorable late season addition to Oregon’s incoming recruiting class.
