We received an endorsement from an unexpected source today as the sports section of the Washington Post ran a wonderful article by Keith McMillan about learning from our site, FishDuck.com. His article, Zone Read Crash Course is generous in his praise of what we are about at this site. He embedded two videos, and had some quotes that help make all the hours worthwhile.
“That sounds great and all, but what if you’re a casual fan who doesn’t really know what a zone read is? Or perhaps a semi-die-hard who sort of knows a zone read or a read-option play when he or she sees one, but couldn’t turn around and explain it to someone else? Enter the website FishDuck.com. I can’t think of a better place to turn. Charles Fischer runs a University of Oregon-specific Web site, and puts his outstanding teaching videos — meant to be a level below a coaches’ tutorial and more advanced than what game announcers tell you — online.”
“Fischer’s tutorials on the inside and outside zone read are each about 12 minutes long, but if you have the time, invest it. In a short span, you’ll learn to distinguish an IZR or OZR just by looking at the formation (3:00 mark of first video below, 3:30 of the second) and how to tell an inside or an outside zone just by watching the way the offensive line comes off the ball (4:15 of second). Those two things alone could change how you understand what you’re watching as you’re watching it”
We are delighted with this news although we had an indication that this momentum was building as one Sunday recently had FOUR articles on Philadelphia sites that either quoted, interviewed, embedded, or cited this website all at the same time. We have also learned that we are about to be cited in another one of the nations largest newspapers and this will be printed in the near future. Trust me…I will cite it here when it happens since all the volunteers who work so hard on this site will share in the celebration.

This is the not only major publication as the Wall Street Journal has honored FishDuck.com in addition and you can read about that endorsement here.
We are building a head of steam at this site and we’re honored to continue to serve the “Next-Level” reader who comes here to learn and be entertained. The snowball of endorsements is growing and we have exciting plans to make this site truly special in the very near future!
