This past year, the Ducks lost four starting offensive linemen. So naturally, it became crucial to fill those empty spaces. One of those spots will be filled by true freshman Cameron Hunt (though he may not be starting right away).
Cameron Hunt joins Oregon’s 2013 recruiting class.
The 6’4”, 265-pound lineman from Corona, Calif., played for one of the best high school teams in the nation: the Centennial High School Huskies. During his final year as a Husky, Hunt assisted in leading them to a 14-2 record, their seventh consecutive section championship, and helped get Centennial ranked second in the state of California and 13th in the nation. Centennial’s highly successful offense also averaged 49 points per game with Hunt leading the way.
Also during his senior year, 2013, the Los Angeles Times named Hunt the State Linemen of the Year, and he played in the Under-Armor All-American Game. In 2012 Hunt was a CalHiSports first-team all-state honoree.

Originally, in July of 2012, Hunt verbally committed to Cal, but after the firing of head coach Jeff Tedford and offensive line coach Jim Michalczik, he re-opened his recruitment and began to speak with other schools. He had a total of 19 offers, including Ohio State, Michigan, and, of course, Oregon.
As he said to HSGameTime, Hunt chose to be a Duck because he “felt really comfortable with the coaching staff.” Additionally, since Oregon has played in four straight BCS games, “having to compete for a national championship every year was really a plus for me,” Hunt said.
So what will the four-star prospect (according to ESPN.com and Rivals.com) and the nation’s 15th-best offensive guard (according to Scout.com) do for Oregon?
- Hunt is agile and athletic, which means he should do very well in Oregon’s speedy offense.
- He has a 3.9 GPA, which shows he’s smart, and can probably read the game very well.
- 40-Yard Dash: 5.35 seconds
- 20-Yard Shuttle: 4.73 seconds
- Vertical Jump: 23 inches
Hunt also mentioned in an interview with HSGameTime, that Oregon coaches want him to come in, gain muscle mass and compete for a starting position right away. Looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of Cameron Hunt this season!
