Commitments
Following Thursday’s events, Oregon garnered an off-field victory with the commitment of defensive end Gus Cumberlander (3-Star/Ellenwood, GA).
“When I got there the coaches treated me like family,” said Cumberlander. “The coaches were amazing and the fans, it was all I expected … it assured me of my decision by how the coaches responded. They were amazing.”
Fellow Oregon commit Travis Waller (4-Star/Anaheim, CA/Rivals100) and his family were also in attendance and spent time chatting with the cross-country visitors.
“My mom (loved it),” Waller said. “She loved Oregon and the academics. She also liked the facilities and knowing I would get top-notch care. Even though I’m far away she knew I’d be taken care of.”
Cumberlander’s 6’6, 238 lb. frame will no doubt bulk up under strength and conditioning coach Jim Radcliffe. Expect the southeast product to fill a drop-end role once he finds his re-tuned speed in the trenches.

News
Head coach Dana Altman looks to put the finishing touches on securing shooting guard Christian James (3-Star/Bellaire, TX/Rivals150), who will take an official visit at the end of October.
“I actually (just) spoke to (Coach) Altman about my visit to see Oregon,” said James. “It’s going to be my last visit.”
Long rumored to be a Ducks lock, the 6’4, 180 lb. James will announce his decision sometime in November before his final prep season.
A high-flying scorer, James makes short work of defenders who stand in his way. In addition, the scrappy defender doesn’t hesitate to chase down fastbreaks and will slide to the interior when needed.
