While the Ducks may not have too much time off to spend with their families this holiday season, it definitely isn’t stopping them from spreading some holiday love.
Yesterday, linebacker and defensive end Christian French made a visit to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to visit his little sister’s elementary school and talk with students about how to plan for the future and become successful.
His sister’s only wish for Christmas was to get a visit from her older brother, so French decided to surprise her at Wright Elementary School before heading out. The Ducks only started vacation after practice on December 21, and will fly to California for the Rose Bowl on Christmas Day.

A native of Cedar Rapids himself, French wanted to inspire the same success he’s had in some of the younger kids from his hometown. When asked about the experience, French said, “They were eating it up, asked a ton of questions. They just had a great time finding out more about me and how I’ve become successful in school and the things to do to be successful in life.”
French certainly has had a lot of success on the field this year. While he only has 22 tackles, he leads the team in sacks with 6.5. He has been a presence on defense all year long, which hopefully will continue in the Rose Bowl game.
One thing’s for sure — his contributions in the Rose Bowl would be the perfect holiday gift for Duck fans everywhere.
