With spring in full swing, Oregon sports again prove that the Ducks aren’t just showing up — they’re taking over. Our own Mr. FishDuck took a break from his fun at richard casino no deposit bonus to chat with me about how the B1G was not fully aware of how Our Beloved Ducks will dominate spring sports, and he is relishing the Ducks’ success.
The No. 15 Oregon baseball team rallied in the ninth inning on Saturday to steal a 5-4 win over Maryland. Drew Smith came through in the clutch, delivering a game-tying RBI single before scoring the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly. Smith finished the day 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, leading the Ducks (23-9, 11-5 Big Ten) to their latest conference victory and setting the tone for a weekend doubleheader.
On the softball field, the No. 4 Ducks reminded everyone why they’re a national title contender. On Friday, they dismantled Minnesota in a 13-0 mercy-rule rout, capped by a seven-run fourth inning. Right fielder Dezianna Patmon sparked the offense with a solo homer. The following day, Oregon showed grit with a comeback 5-4 win, scoring five runs in the final two innings to seal the series.

While baseball and softball keep racking up wins, Oregon football is quietly preparing for another significant run under head coach Dan Lanning. Coming off a Big Ten title and a Rose Bowl appearance, Lanning has built a championship-caliber program that continues to draw national attention as one of the top coaches without a national championship — for now. According to 247Sports’ Brad Crawford, Lanning ranks No. 2 on that list, with all signs pointing to a title run in the near future.
“Lanning pulled all the proper recruiting and transfer portal strings this offseason,” Crawford wrote. “In the next five years — perhaps sooner — Lanning is bound for a national championship at Oregon.”
Quarterback Dante Moore is expected to take the reins in 2025 following Dillon Gabriel’s departure to the NFL. Moore has spent the last year learning Oregon’s system and looks ready for the moment. Of course, there’s Ducks quarterback Austin Novosad, who’s been in the Oregon system longer than Moore and is presumably also in the running for the starting job, as far as we know.
Nice way to collect your 100th career RBI, @dezianna_patmon!!!

Still, there’s intrigue surrounding the quarterback room. Former five-star Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava entered the transfer portal amid NIL drama, and of course, whispers of supposed Oregon interest have surfaced. Lanning declined to comment when asked, but insiders suggest Iamaleava’s family reached out first and the Ducks blew the whistle, informing Tennessee coach Josh Heupel of the attempted contact. Whether the Ducks make a move remains to be seen, but it seems highly unlikely — Moore has the edge, and Oregon’s staff knows what they have.
In the meantime, spring practices have shown off the talent already in place, including freshman wide receiver Dakorien Moore, the No. 1 receiver in the 2025 class. Coaches and teammates have praised his explosiveness and work ethic, and early signs point to the five-star stud becoming a game-changer in the Ducks’ offense.
Off the field, Oregon is also in the mix for the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 class, offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell. The Ducks are battling Georgia and a handful of national powerhouses, but Cantwell has hinted that a decision could come soon — and Oregon is firmly in the race.
Adding to the excitement, Oregon coaching legends Mike Bellotti and Rich Brooks and former star players Christian Gonzalez and Bucky Irving will return as honorary coaches for this year’s spring game, which will be held at 1 p.m. on April 26 at Autzen Stadium.
From the recruiting trail to the playing field, the Ducks appear to be making moves across every major sport. With momentum building and championship expectations growing, Oregon again shows why it’s one of the most dynamic programs in college athletics.
