Oregon Football: Week Seven’s Shining Star

Alex Heining Editorials

Our Oregon football program suffered a disappointing and stunning loss in Eugene against Indiana. Oregon got all-around beaten in their own place, and it was hard to watch for Duck fans. Fortunately, the season didn’t end this weekend, and one shining star elevated MASSIVELY in the moment. Our Mr. FishDuck was having fun learning about various no deposit bonus codes for Aussies when he took a break to agree with my shining star of the week.

Brandon Finney didn’t play a perfect game by any means. However, he did NOT look like a freshman. Dominating at the line of scrimmage and downfield, his pick-six was the cherry on top of a fantastic game for the young freshman cornerback. Oregon’s secondary didn’t get “exposed”; they just got tested. And lost. That’s fine, this early in the season. A young group is expected to have growing pains at such a difficult position as cornerback, especially against the premier talent the B1G conference has to offer. Finney and co. will bounce back from this game, and Finney played outstanding overall.

If head coach Dan Lanning used this tape as a textbook example of how to rally, play with confidence, and take advantage of given opportunities, I have high hopes for the rest of the season. The Ducks will finish strong. There’s a lot to work with here.

Who was your favorite player of the game? Who has stepped up in their role and elevated the team in your eyes? Let us know in the FishDuck Forum with decorum.

For the 2025 Football Season….

We will be publishing between three and four articles per week during the football season, as we skip Saturdays with all the distraction of GameDay for us. Check through the week, and in particular check for Analysis articles on most Fridays.

The Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBD) is where we we discuss the article above and many more topics, as it is so much easier in a message board format over there.  At the free OBD forum we will be posting Oregon Sports article links, the daily Press Releases from the Athletic Department and the news coming out every day.

Our 33 rules at the free OBD Forum can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) do not tell anyone what to think, feel or write, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics. Easy-peasy!

OBD Forum members….we got your back.  No Trolls Allowed!
