Ducks Impress in Field Events at John Knight Twilight

Bryan Holt Editorials

Monmouth, OR: The Ducks’ women’s track and field team came into the week ranked second in the nation, looking to continue their success. The team has made quite the impression lately, and on Friday it was the Ducks in the field events who really made an impact.

Laura Bobek shined the most with a victory in the women’s discus competition.  The junior Oregonian won with a throw of 51.70m, which is less than three feet from her personal best at 52.58m.  Jillian Weir also had a good day in the discus competition coming in third, and she really made noise in the hammer, throwing just a few feet short of a personal best to finish second.  Rachel Sherrell threw a personal best in the javelin at 44.19m, placing third.

On the men’s side, freshman Ryan Hunter-Simms from Highland, CA placed second in the shot put and third in the discus.  He set personal bests in both events and should give the freshman confidence to help the Ducks as they look to repeat as PAC-12 champions.

For the Exciting 2024 Football Season….

We will be publishing between four and six articles per week during the football season, as we skip Saturdays with all the distraction of GameDay for us. Check through the week, and in particular check for Analysis articles on most Fridays.

The Our Beloved Ducks Forum (OBD) is where we we discuss the article above and many more topics, as it is so much easier in a message board format over there.  At the free OBD forum we will be posting Oregon Sports article links, the daily Press Releases from the Athletic Department and the news coming out every day.

Our 33 rules at the free OBD Forum can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) do not tell anyone what to think, feel or write, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics. Easy-peasy!

OBD Forum members….we got your back.  No Trolls Allowed!
